Students of class 2AIT took part in an eTwinning project called TF – Truly Fit whose main goal was to let them develop 21st century skills. They had the chance to be creative and collaborated with mixed nationality teams, solved problems, presented and evaluated their work, learned how to give effective feedback, developed their IT skills and used English meaningfully. They tried to analyse the main causes for anxiety and how to cope through boosting their self-esteem, reflecting on well-being, healthy eating and lifestyle.

Now let’s hear about this project directly from the students’ point of view.

The first thing we did was introduce ourselves to the French and Portuguese students and they did the same. After that, we moved on to a session about online safety. We talked about how to protect ourselves when we’re using the internet, which was actually really useful. Then we shared our Christmas traditions. It was really interesting to hear how people from different cultures celebrate the holiday in their own unique ways.

Our teachers asked us to create a “No Screen Day” plan that consisted in planning a day without screens. We worked in groups at school.  A lot of us proposed to read some books, go for a walk, play boardgames with friends and listen to music.

After having created these  plans, we tried out the plans created by students of the partner countries. It was really fun. We played, drew and played games. Some things were new for us. We liked to see what kids in other places do. We talked and laughed together. No phone, no screen, just fun. We also learned about other schools. It was nice to share and feel like one big group.

Another activity we had was creating a volunteer group starting from an important theme such as the environment or human rights. We invented a name, a logo, a slogan and organised everything in a poster and we gave a brief presentation in class.

During a lesson, we created logos for the project, the other students from France and Portugal did the same and then everyone voted for their favourite logo. Each logo tries to tell the story of our project and all of them are very catchy but only one could be chosen and we are really proud to say that the winning logo was from our school.

In the end we can say that we really liked taking part in these activities and we would really like to take part in more projects like this one!
